This project is a first of its kind that targets young women between the ages of 18- 25 particularly those in tertiary institutions who form part of the Model Parliament to deliberate on pertinent development issues. The project seeks to transform women’s attitudes towards political participation by providing them with a platform for high level dialogues, thereby equipping them with the practical experience involved in the shaping of national policies and laws. Recruitment for the model parliament forum is done through an open online application process. Activities include: training in parliamentary procedures, shadowing members of parliament by watching previous parliament proceedings, site visits to constituencies, Interviews of Members of Parliament, Ministers and Dikgosi for research purposes and rehearsal sessions. All these culminate in a parliamentary session where the participants showcase their research and all the skills they have been trained on
- To provide a six-month training to at least 100 women between the ages of 18-25 years on the functions of parliament as a law making institution.
- To support the upskilling of all model parliament participants through leadership, research methods and public speaking capacity-building workshops during the six months program.
- To provide access for at least 100 young Batswana women to their elected leaders and enable dialogues and cross generational learning on issues of policy development.
